Nick Names

I was thinking about nick names today and we use them a lot in our family, here is a list of some of them.

"Lisa" my real name is Elizabeth Michelle Christensen Asay but have gone by Lisa for as long as I remember, it was because of my sister Heather

"Rich's" real name is Stephen Richeson Asay II but has always gone by Rich or "Riche"

Savanah we like to call her "Savanah Banana" or just "Banana"

"Tre's" real name is Stephen Richeson Asay III, as a newborn we thought that he didn't look like a Stephen, Steve or Rich so we brain stormed and Rich came up with Tre which is 3 in Italian.

"Lizzy" is short for Elizabeth Rose, Rich also calls her "Lulu"
and I sometimes call her "Roses"

"Bekah" is short for Rebekah Noel, Rich also calls her "Scootcher",
Lizzy use to call her "Noel Bekah"

My brother-in-law, Bill Spangler, also loves nick names this what he calls our family:

Lisa "Bay Leaves" when I lived with Heather and Bill I worked at a store called Bay Leaves and that is how I answered the store's phone

Rich "Reesh"

Savanah "Savanah Baboon"

Tre "National Tre" they went to see National Treasure in the theater and the ticket said "National Tre"

Lizzy "Thin Lizzy" as in the 1970's rock band

Bekah I think is just Bekah

Summers in Folsom

Savanah and Tre at the pool

I wanted to share how we spend our lazy summer days with you. Summers in Folsom can get very hot, like above 100 degrees, so one of the things we love to do is go to the Folsom Aquatic Center, it boasts 3 pools, a big red slide and playground in the kiddie pool.
We buy a pass each summer and spend a lot of time there. The kids get tan while I add more freckles to my skin.
This is Lizzy at the pool last summer

And this is Bekah-Boo at the same pool.

We also go the library a lot to do the summer reading program. Savanah has volunteered these past 2 year to help with the reading program.

The other great thing is the free movies every week that Regal Cinema offers each summer.

Then there are free concerts in the Park on Friday nights.

Now that I have teenagers they also have camps. Girls camp for Savanah and Scout camp for Tre. They are both gone this week, meaning the house is very quit with out them.

We also try to do a camping trip or go somewhere fun each summer.

We do all these things and watch way to much TV.
Oh well, I love the slower pace of summer!

Van Rack

Rich designed and built this rack for our big van, like cut the steel, welded and painted it. Tre helped a lot with a little help from the rest of us.

Tre was our helper on the roof, Rich also added fog lights and a Ham Radio antenna.

I'm so proud of Rich, he is very creative as well as smart enough bring his creations to life. Yes he is a REAL man and he is mine :)

Here is Savanah helping out as well. This will be very useful on our road trip in a week.

The Garden is Growing

Here is updates of our garden, we have tomatoes, peppers, melons, beans cucumbers and zucchinis

Savanah is volunteering at the library again this summer to help with the kids summer reading program

This Year's Garden

We moved this past fall and didn't have room for a garden in the back so we have put a couple of beds in the front of the house. Things are growing well so far.
This blog is a place to remember all the great things about Mom.
I was thinking of my favorite dinners, and that has to be the days she made bread and we had Fried Bread with honey and butter for dinner.
I also remember having Fruit Salad during the summer with maybe some of her famous home made Biscuits.
Do you remember the time we had a food fight with a fruit salad?
I still cook many of Mom's dishes for my own family and it makes we happy that made all those meals for us!
